Project Overview:

This space was originally used as a kitchen seating area when the home functioned as a golf clubhouse. Upon conversion back to a single-family residence, the area was reimagined as a formal dining room capable of seating up to ten guests while maintaining a traditional aesthetic. The existing ceiling alcove color was preserved and used as the foundation for the overall design palette. To reinforce this connection, a textured sisal wallpaper in a deep navy tone was applied to the wall behind the cabinetry, echoing the ceiling color and adding depth, warmth, and visual interest to the space.

A long dining table with a leaf extension was selected to accommodate larger gatherings while fitting comfortably within the room’s proportions. Softly upholstered dining chairs were chosen to complement the table and provide comfort during extended meals. To elevate the room and introduce contrast, a contemporary chandelier was installed, adding a refined and upscale presence.

A key design challenge involved incorporating a picture television without detracting from the room’s traditional character. This was achieved by integrating the television into a gallery wall composed of framed photography captured during the homeowners’ travels. When not in use, the television blends seamlessly with the surrounding artwork, allowing the wall to function as a curated visual display. A custom traditional rug was crafted to fit the space precisely, softening the flooring and grounding
